Bio:

Lynn-Wood Fields grew up in Whitefish, Montana, and is the proud wife to Casey Stekly and the

mother of two boys ages 7 and 13. She is an educator, award-winning filmmaker, producer and

an outreach coordinator for workforce development in the state of Montana. She graduated with

her MFA in digital filmmaking from the University of Montana in 2011. Her work has since gone

on to screen at over 50 film festivals and venues globally. Her current projects include television

series “House Calls,” which premiered on PBS in 2022; “Social Impact” with the Institute for

Family; and “Snqweyɫmistn,” a documentary on Salish forever foster homes which is now used

as curriculum with the Office of Public Instruction. She also produces a podcast, Stem̓ ʔa

spuʔús, with Debra Magpie Earling, award-winning Salish Author. It will be available in January

2024.

With her passion for the economic impact through storytelling, she has worked in three

legislative sessions on workforce development. She helped coin the MEDIA (Montana

Economic Development Industry Advancement) Act or HB293. This legislation incentivized

production to film in Montana and was so successful that it added $153.9MM of total local

economic spend and created over 840 full time jobs paying over $50K* or more.

She owns Montana Film Tax Credits and Media Training Center, which focuses on training

Montana filmmakers. She is a member of the Montana Film Society and is the film/media

outreach coordinator with AccelerateMT helping to connect Montanans to film. She has also

developed rapid training courses which teach Montanans to work in film and media with over

145 graduates.

With an eye for budgets and a flair for creative financial solutions, her decade-plus work in

filmmaking makes her uniquely qualified to hold a municipal position. Our community is in need

of someone who is reasonable, communicates thoroughly, works well with others, and can think

outside the box. She would like the next chapter of Missoula’s story to be something for which

Missoula can all be proud.
